Cair Aviation Limited was founded in 1989 by Colin D. Street and is a company run by glider pilots for glider pilots.  The Company has in latter years specialized mainly in glider instrumentation and the development of the "Ottfur" safety release. The "Ottfur" glider release of which the design and manufacturing rights are owned by the company, has been further developed as an alternative release for modern gliders and represents another significant British input into the World of gliding.
 

In partnership with Julian Ben David of the Clever Box Company  a total of 600 units of the  XK10 Variometer system has been produced and sold in the U.K. alone.
